The Seasoned hotseat: Maria Iranzo
Originally from Valencia, the city of oranges, I moved to London around six years ago and absolutely love it. I have been in events and sales across the hospitality sector for around 11 years now. Believe it or not, my inspiration to work in this industry initially came from the movie “The Wedding Planner”, as soon as I watched it I knew what I wanted to do.
Favourite London restaurant?
It has to be 108 Brasserie in The Marylebone Hotel. I worked there for three years and fell in love with the food.
What do you enjoy cooking?
Hmm, my skills in the kitchen are limited, although I do love making salads.
What don’t people know about you?
I can come across rather wild but I wear my heart on my sleeve. My friends and family mean the world to me and I would do anything for them.
Who would you invite to try your signature dish? (Can be anyone!)
Once I am confident I have an amazing signature dish, I will send invites to Jennifer Lopez & Matthew McConaughey. Now that would be great company!
Gordon Ramsey or Jamie Oliver? (Who’s your favourite and why?)
I love Jamie Oliver’s style and persona; he comes across fun and approachable whilst remaining seriously focused about his work to improve children’s health through better food.
What do you like most about working in events?
Every event and every client brings a different experience, which makes my job really interesting.
St. Paul’s. I can’t wait to go to St. Paul’s and run my first event.
What three things can’t you live without?
The most adventurous experience you have done?
Swing on the edge of the world – Casa Del Arbol in Banos, Ecuador. You need to see it to believe it.
Mexican vs. Italian and why?
Italian; I love pizza and pasta.
If you could travel anywhere, what would be your dream destination?
Difficult question for a travel junkie like me. I want to travel everywhere but I would like to make Indonesia my next big trip.
